I got this from Cheshira's xanga.

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Mostly wrapping paper.

2. Artificial or Real tree? Our neighbor has a Christmas tree farm. We go cut a tree ourselves.

3. When do you put up a tree? We have to wait until Hannah gets home from college. So hopefully we will be putting it up December 13.

4. When do you take it down? Sometime after Christmas. Then we feed it to the sheep.

5. Do you like eggnog? Yup. When my mom was expecting Rosie she drank so much artificial eggnog that the man at Byrne Dairy was joking about it. My mom doesn't even like eggnog though.

6. Favorite gift received as a child? Hmmm. I don't remember. I like getting up in the morning and finding candy in my shoes.

7. Hardest person to buy for? my father.

8. Easiest person to buy for? Well, of my family, my Mom is pretty easy.

9. Do you have a nativity scene? We have several.

10. Mail or email Christmas cards? I definitely like receiving mail, but I don't usually send out many cards.

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Probably the worst would be a gift that got taken back and somebody else got the refund. I don't remember if it actually happened though; and if it did, it was probably an oversight.

12. Favorite Christmas Movie? I think we have the Christmas Carol as a movie but I don't remember it very well.  Papa reads us the book every year, though. That is one of our favorite traditions.

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Sometime before Christmas. No specific date.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Not that I remember.

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Candy and nuts

16. Lights on the tree? Definitely. And some that blink individually, twinklers maybe they're called?

17. Favorite Christmas Song? I love the melody of Oh Come Oh Come Emmanuel.

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Stay Home

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's? Nope. Not a chance.

20. Angel on the tree top or a star? Star

21. Open presents on Christmas Eve or morning? Christmas morning. We aren't allowed to leave our rooms until 7 a.m. One year Papa got called in for a C-section just before 7, so we had to wait until he came home from that. I hope that doesn't happen again this year.

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? Santa.

23. Favorite Ornament theme or color? No theme at all.

24. Favorite dessert for Christmas dinner? We usually have Christmas cookies.

25. What do you want for Christmas this year? Books.

26. Who is most likely to respond to this? I though maybe my sister Katie, but then it occurred to me that a lot of our answers would be the same since Christmas with my family would be the same as Christmas with her family!

27. Who is least likely to respond to this? Probably the people who don't ready my Xanga!

At the rate of 1 chapter a month, you could memorize the entire New Testament in under 11 years.

I guess it is time for an update.  I have a job now as  a medical transcriptionist.  It is a job that I could do from home, but since it is over the internet and we only have dial-up at home, I go to Papa's office to use the high-speed.  The doctors dictate it, then I can listen over the phone and type it out.  It seems like it would be really easy, but it ISN'T.  People ask if I can type really fast.  The answer is no.  But it really takes me longer to figure out what the doctor is saying (or meaning to say) and then figuring out the spelling, punctuation, format, and a rough attempt at grammer than it does to actually type it.  Some of the doctors have an accent or mumble or correct themselves, and it can be difficult to figure out what on earth they are saying.  Sometimes what they say comes out really funny.  On the dictation I worked on yesterday, the doctor said something about the upper extremities on the right side, as though the poor guy had multiple right arms.

Merry belated Christmas and Happy New Year!

My parents just got back from dropping my sister Katie off at Verity. If any of you happen to see her, say "Hi" to her for me. :>)

Katie, if you read this, consider yourself "Hi-ed."      :>)

Some of the things I did today were the following: I  walked, taught a piano lesson, made bananna bread, studied, held a little baby, went shopping for material for a formal dress for Katie, and worked on a railing for a loft in the cabin. Oh, and I looked up in the dictionary the plural of platypus. It is either platypusses or platypi. But I didn't just now check the spelling, so don't quote me on that. But the plural is not platypussies. Just for your information. And I am told that they don't have feathers. Oh well.
